Zenit St Petersburg full-back Pavel Mares claims to be on the verge of completing a move to Bolton Wanderers.
The 30-year-old Czech Republic international impressed Sam Allardyce when he watched the Russians during last season's UEFA Cup and the Wanderers boss is now reported to have lodged a £2million bid.
Mares told The Sun: "I'm joining Bolton. The contract hasn't been signed yet but I plan to sort this out before the transfer window closes.
"Bolton are one of the strongest teams in the Premiership and I'm glad to be going there."
Mares has won ten international caps but did not manage to get on the field during the Czechs' disappointing World Cup finals campaign.
