Lee prepared for Jussi exit
21 Jun 2007 - 11:24:59
Bolton Wanderers boss Sammy Lee is preparing for life without Jussi Jaaskelainen should he decide to cash in on the unsettled goalkeeper this summer.
Jaaskelainen recently rejected a new contract and has just 12 months remaining on his existing deal at the Reebok Stadium.
Lee could look to offload the Finland international before he can sign for another club on a free transfer, with Aston Villa and Sunderland believed to be monitoring the situation.
The newly-installed Bolton chief is hoping the 32-year-old can be persuaded to agree new terms, but has admitted he has a contingency plan should Jaaskelainen decide to leave.
"Jussi's been made a very good offer by the club and, although we've read that he's turned it down, he's not said anything to me," he told the Bolton News.
"Obviously I don't want to lose him, but we've got contingency plans."
Meanwhile, the Trotters have been linked with a £6million move for Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse.
The injury-plagued France international spent last season on loan at Marseille and has been told he is surplus to requirements at the Merseyside club.
