Klasnic takes the plaudits
26 Oct 2009 - 09:22:15
Bolton Wanderers boss Gary Megson was full of praise for Ivan Klasnic following the striker's winning goal in the 3-2 victory at home to Everton.
The Trotters made hard work of the win, letting a two-goal lead slip before Klasnic rifled home with four minutes remaining to seal a first home league win of the campaign.
"Ivan has just got one thought in his mind when he's in there," Megson commented.
"He had a shot just before that from about 20 yards when really he should have passed it to Chung-Yong Lee.
"But you can't criticise forwards for doing that, that is what they are there for.
"Him being that kind of personality was probably a good thing for us, because he certainly wasn't looking to pass when the ball dropped to him. It was a fantastic strike."
Croatia international Klasnic's career appeared to be in danger a couple of years ago when he required a kidney transplant, but Megson has played down the relevance of that now.
He added: "I can fully understand people talking about this - he has had this kidney transplant and he's come through.
"But I think in time we'll move on from that and just recognise that he's a good player.
"He doesn't mention it at all. He doesn't make any fuss and he isn't treated any differently to anyone else, he just gets on with it."
