Jussi faces contract wait
24 Jan 2008 - 13:47:16
Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen will have to wait until the end of the season to find out whether he will be offered a new contract.
The 32-year-old seems almost certain to move on, but no final decision will be taken until the Trotters know which division they will be in next term.
Jaaskelainen's agent, Peter Harrison, commented: "He's been told by Bolton that until they know which league they're in, they aren't in a position to negotiate anything.
"Jussi is very relaxed and is just concentrating on playing well for Bolton to help them get the points they need."
Jaaskelainen has been with Bolton for just over a decade, making nearly 400 appearances for the club in all competitions.
Meanwhile, former Trotters defender Gerald Cid has hit out at the training regime at the Reebok Stadium, having recently returned to France to join Nice.
He told L'Equipe, he added: "Some people have told me that I was mad to leave, but I could not see myself remaining on the bench or playing on the left for several more months.
"As soon as I knew the door was open to go I did not need to give it much thought.
"I feel as though I worked less during training sessions than I ever did in France. To me training sessions are important if you want to improve and that was not going to happen."
