Bolton manager Sam Allardyce hailed his goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen as Wanderers beat previously unbeaten Portsmouth 1-0 at Fratton Park on Monday.
Kevin Nolan's first-half goal secured the points for Bolton but it was Jaaskelainen's display that most pleased Allardyce.
"Jussi was terrific," he said. "We needed him and he's one of the reasons why we won. He made a massive contribution.
"The spirit has grown in a difficult week and the lads have reacted, they've shown no effects apart from a terrific performance.
"I just want them to commit like that in every game, they knew it was a big game for different reasons."
Meanwhile, Allardyce also plans to sue the BBC after the allegations of corruption made against him on the Panorama programme last week.
"I've had lengthy discussions with my lawyers and I'm planning to sue the BBC over the false and highly damaging allegations," he said.
"My lawyers have advised me that I have a very strong case in relation to the programme.
"I have therefore instructed my lawyers to prepare my case against the BBC."
