Jussi could join Magpies

Jussi Jaaskelainen's future at Bolton Wanderers is once again in doubt after the goalkeeper's agent revealed that new contract talks had broken down.

The 32-year-old Finland international was linked with a Reebok Stadium exit in the summer and agent Peter Harrison has now said that Newcastle United could be a possible destination for his client.

The Magpies are now managed by former Bolton boss Sam Allardyce who has used both Shay Given and Steve Harper in goal so far this season.

"Jussi would be interested in joining a club like Newcastle, especially as Sam Allardyce was his best manager at Bolton," said Harrison.

"Bolton have withdrawn their offer and there are no further talks planned."

Jaaskelainen has made almost 400 appearances for Bolton in his decade with the club following his switch from VPS Vaasa.
