Gardner blow rocks Megson

Bolton Wanderers have been dealt some early bad news this season after learning that Ricardo Gardner is set for a period on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

The left full-back-cum-winger was forced to withdraw from the Trotters squad that lost at home to Sunderland on Saturday and the injury could keep him out for a significant period.

Wanderers manager Gary Megson said that Gardner could be shelved from action for three weeks, while confirming he would be out to sign more new players before the month is out.

"We have a stronger squad than last season in terms of numbers and quality but there are a lot stronger squads out there," said Megson.

"We will have a look around and see what (strikers) there are around and see if we can do better."

Gardner is set to miss Bolton's fixtures with Hull City and Liverpool during his absence from first-team duties.
