Fabrice Muamba to become father for second time

Former footballer Fabrice Muamba, who almost died on the pitch last March, is to become a father for the second time, his wife Shauna announced on Wednesday.

The couple, who married in October, have revealed that a brother or sister for their four-year-old son Joshua is expected to arrive in June.

"Thanks for all the lovely well wishes @fmuamba and I are so happy. We've been so blessed and can't wait to meet our new baby," Shauna wrote on Twitter.

Muamba, a former England under-21 international, collapsed following a sudden cardiac arrest during an FA Cup quarter-final between his club Bolton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane in March last year.

The Democratic Republic of Congo-born midfielder was technically dead for 78 minutes but was brought back to life after shocks from a defibrillator got his heart beating again.

Despite his recovery, he was forced to retire from professional football in August.

In October, he launched the Hearts and Goals campaign, which aims to provide CPR training and increase the provision of defibrillators in public places in Britain.

The former Arsenal trainee has also published a best-selling autobiography, 'I'm Still Standing'.
