Elmander backed to impress
06 Oct 2008 - 16:49:55
Bolton Wanderers manager Gary Megson remains confident that record signing Johan Elmander will prove to be a big hit in English football.
The 27-year-old Sweden international's start to his Trotters career has been disrupted by a hamstring injury, but Megson has no doubts that the striker will come good when he settles.
The Wanderers boss said: "We are hopeful Johan Elmander can go on and do the things he has done in the past on the Continent.
"He has not done a massive amount of training, because he has been out with a torn hamstring for about five weeks and he needs to get into the pace of the things which we are doing.
"He has only played two full games, but he has already got a goal.
"Johan is a class act and we just need to utilise his strengths and he needs to get used to what we are trying to achieve."
Elmander scored his one and only Bolton goal to date in the 3-1 home victory over Stoke City on the opening day of the season.
