Elmander desperate to improve
20 May 2009 - 08:10:54
Bolton Wanderers' record signing Johan Elmander is determined to improve in his second season with the Trotters.
The 27-year-old Sweden international has scored just five times since his big-money arrival from French club Toulouse last summer and wants to do better next term.
He told the Manchester Evening News: "I was brought to the club to score goals and five goals in a season is not good for a striker.
"My target at the start of the season was to score ten. It's been an up and down season.
"I started out really well and then I got injured. Then I got back on track only to be injured again. However, over the course of the last couple of games, I have felt better and better.
"I'm starting to adapt more to the English game, because at the beginning it was stronger and harder than I expected. But I'm sure I'm not the only player new to the Premier League to think that.
"The tempo is much quicker over here and every game is a war. Sometimes in France it wasn't like that."
