    Double blow strikes Trotters

    28 Aug 2008 - 13:01:59

Bolton Wanderers boss Gary Megson has confirmed his worst fears that both Johan Elmander and Matty Taylor will be sidelined for the foreseeable future.

Sweden international striker Elmander limped out of last weekend's 1-0 defeat at Newcastle United with a hamstring injury.

Elmander had scored on his Trotters debut the previous week, but the club record £11million signing now faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after scans revealed a torn hamstring.

Meanwhile, wing-back Taylor picked up a foot injury at St James' Park and will also be unavailable for the immediate future.

"Johan's torn his hamstring and Matt has broke his toe and they will be out for a while," Megson told Sky Sports News.

"It's disappointing for Johan and, from our own point of view, it's a big blow because he's set off remarkably well.

"But it happens and we get on and deal with it."

Meanwhile, Megson has confirmed that he remains active in the market ahead of Monday's transfer deadline.

"We are still trying to bring players in and that work will go right up to the wire as we try and improve the squad," he added.
