Diouf waiting on report
16 Oct 2006 - 12:51:11
Football Association disciplinary chiefs will examine the referee's report on Bolton's 2-1 win at Newcastle United on Sunday before deciding whether to charge Wanderers forward El Hadji Diouf.
The Senegal international angered Newcastle fans by taunting them after his two second-half goals, and was later dragged down the tunnel by Bolton officials after becoming involved in an angry confrontation with United's backroom team following his late substitution.
An FA spokesman said: "Our first port of call would be to see if the referee puts anything in what we call an extraordinary incident report. We're going through those reports at the moment.
"If there was a cause for concern, the second thing we'd do would be to contact the clubs and see if there's any observations they can provide."
Diouf is no stranger to disciplinary controversy and his previous conduct could count against him should the FA decide to charge him.
The spokesman added: "When it comes to the hearing, they can bear that in mind - it's at their discretion."
