Davies pens new Bolton deal
18 Aug 2009 - 09:28:16
Bolton Wanderers captain Kevin Davies has signed a one-year contract extension to keep him at the Reebok Stadium until 2012.
Davies, 32, still had two years remaining on his existing deal but had been linked with a potential move to Blackburn Rovers earlier in the summer.
The striker has now followed team-mates Matt Taylor and Gary Cahill in signing a new deal with the Trotters in recent weeks.
"I am really pleased that we could add another year to Kevin's contract," manager Gary Megson told the club's official website.
"He has been absolutely 100 per cent since I arrived.
"He is a great leader on and off the pitch - a modern-day professional footballer setting a great example and he is fully committed to Bolton Wanderers."
The former Blackburn Rovers and Southampton striker joined Bolton in 2003 and has made almost 250 appearances in which he has scored 51 goals.
