Davies: Bolton targets have shifted

Captain Kevin Davies believes Bolton's targets have shifted following their strong end to the Premier League campaign.

The Trotters finished the season in 14th place following Owen Coyle's January arrival as manager and the subsequent improvement in fortunes.

Davies now believes the Reebok Stadium outfit should set loftier targets next season.

"It was important that we won against Birmingham (on the final day of the season) and that we finished the season in 14th position," he told the club's official website.

"We don't want to become a side that is just looking to stay up year on year.

"The mentality has changed a little now and perhaps we will look to set our targets a little bit higher. That will be something that the manager will be stressing when we all report back for pre-season.

"Everything is in place now and along with the fans, we are all looking forward to next season."
