Coyle fumes at Spurs' opener
25 Feb 2010 - 12:27:32
Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle thought his side were unlucky to suffer a heavy 4-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur in their FA Cup fifth round replay at White Hart Lane on Wednesday.
The former Burnley boss was also furious that Spurs' first goal was allowed to stand after he thought Sam Ricketts had been fouled in the build-up.
He fumed: "In the build-up to the first goal Sam Ricketts was clearly blocked and, when the move broke down, he was out of position and Tottenham scored.
"We'd have defended that better but it was a big moment in the game. I was fed up that we never seemed to get those decisions. They scored two goals and we scored the other two for them.
"I'm disappointed because we created a number of good opportunities, but we just need someone to finish them off. I wish Tottenham well but I didn't think that 4-0 was a fair reflection."
