A Lancashire derby and a manager who has recently swapped Burnley for Bolton Wanderers can only add to the passion between the two Premier League strugglers at Reebok Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Owen Coyle, who guided Burnley to promotion from the Championship last term, landed the managerial role at the Trotters earlier this month following the sacking of Gary Megson.
Coyle played for Bolton and he has the opportunity to add to his former club's dismal away record that has yielded just a single point - from a 3-3 draw at Manchester City - from 11 fixtures.
However, Bolton's home record is pretty average with the relegation zone placed side winning just two of their 11 games in their own backyard.
At the time of the move, Coyle claimed: "I have an unbelievable challenge ahead here at this magnificent club, with a magnificent stadium, and I have to take that on.
"You want to be the best you can be and that's my motivation."
Burnley's players should use this as their own motivation as they look to grab a first success on the road this term.
The Clarets have installed former Grimsby Town, Scunthorpe United and Sheffield Wednesday boss Brian Laws as Coyle's successor and he will be boosted with the returning Chris McCann to the first-team fold.
Coyle could be without Gavin McCann (thigh) and Ricardo Gardner (groin) as he looks to make it third time lucky in his quest for a Premier League point.
His opening league games both came against Arsenal where they lost 2-0 at home before going down 4-2 at Emirates Stadium.
Mark Davies (ankle), Sean Davis (knee ligament) and Joey O'Brien (knee) are still a long way from a return to the set-up.
Coyle may unleash new loan signing Vladimir Weiss, who has joined temporarily until the end of the campaign from Manchester City.
