Bolton set to announce Alonso deal

Bolton Wanderers are on the verge of landing the highly-rated Real Madrid teenager Marcos Alonso.

The 18-year-old defender will undergo a medical at the Reebok Stadium this weekend before moving to Owen Coyle's side in a £1.6million deal.

Alonso is believed to have rejected a switch to Benfica so that he could sign for the Trotters.

He made just one first-team appearance for Real last term although he was a regular non-playing substitute and did feature in the in the club's reserve team, Castilla, on a regular basis.

However, a deal for Spain Under-19 international Rodrigo Moreno appears to have fallen through with the striker opting to move to Portugal instead.

It now seems likely that Jlloyd Samuel will leave the club, with Newcastle United believed to be interested in landing the former Aston Villa star.
