Bolton move works for Cahill

Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill is delighted with the way his first full season at the Reebok Stadium went.

The 23-year-old centre-half joined the Trotters from Aston Villa in January 2008 and has made steady progress ever since, moving to the fringes of the England senior squad.

Cahill told his club's official website: "I am happy with my season, I have been more consistent and I want to take that into next season and keep on improving.

"I am still young and I have a lot to learn and I will keep working on all aspects of my game.

"I do think that my move away from Villa was a great decision and I believe people can see that I have come on as a player.

"Since I have been at the club everyone has been outstanding to me - the manager, the staff, the players and the fans.

"It is a great place to come and play your football and there is a great togetherness in the club."
