Bolton Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce is hoping to make two signings before the transfer window shuts, with Fulham's Steed Malbranque his top target.
Allardyce is aware that his squad is a little light on numbers and he is hopeful of strengthening before the end of the month.
He told the club's official website: "There are a number of targets I am still looking at and I remain hopeful of having the funds available to bring in two top-class players.
"I would dearly love to bring Malbranque to the club. He has all the right qualities we are looking for.
"It is no secret that he wants away from Fulham and I hope we can do a deal for him."
France international midfielder Malbranque has been told he can leave the Cottagers after refusing to sign a new contract with the club.
