Anelka backed to shine

Bolton striker El Hadji Diouf has backed team-mate Nicolas Anelka to hit the goal trail despite his quiet start to life at the Reebok Stadium.

The France international has a proven Premiership track record but has so far failed to find the back of the net in the League since his £8million move to the Trotters from Fenerbahce.

However, despite his barren spell, Diouf is certain the well-travelled striker will come good.

"When Nico scores one goal, many more will follow," Diouf told the club's official website.

"I know it's hard for him but he's a great player. This club bought him for a lot of money and I am sure he will score goals.

"This is just something that happens. The best is to come for Nicolas and for the club."
