Gary Megson was delighted that England manager Fabio Capello had finally given Kevin Davies official recognition for the striker's efforts over the years.[LNB]The Bolton target man was rewarded for years of unwavering industry by being included in the provisional England squad for next week's game against Slovakia, although he failed to survive the cut when that squad was whittled down last night.[LNB] Up for the challenge: Kevin Davies, left, battles for the ball with West Bromwich Albion's Jonas Olsson[LNB] West Brom 1 Bolton 1: Koren late show denies Megson the perfect return[LNB]West Brom v Bolton: How the game unfolded[LNB] However, Bolton manager Megson said: 'I spoke to both Fabio and Franco Baldini at Fulham a couple of weeks ago. They asked about Kevin and Gary Cahill. I said if you put either of them in, neither would let you down.[LNB]'You need to play in a fashion that suits Davo to get the best from him. He's been such an important player for Bolton over the years.[LNB]'He's big, he's aggressive, he's really difficult to deal with. The goal we scored today was a great strike from Matty Taylor, but it would not have happened without Davo's contribution. He's competed for the ball with Jonas Olsson and, because of that, the defender cannot get the distance on his header.'[LNB]Megson, generously applauded by West Bromwich Albion's fans following his five-year spell in charge at the Hawthorns, had cause to rue two points lost. His anger at conceding a late equaliser spilled over when referee Howard Webb sent him to the stands after an altercation over the time it had taken to make a substitution.[LNB]For all their comfort in possession, Albion still do not have enough cutting edge. Defender Paul Robinson's criticism that his team-mates have not been showing sufficient heart may have had the desired effect.[LNB]The defender showed his passion, booting a seat in the dug-out after manager Tony Mowbray substituted him near the end.[LNB]Mowbray's decision to leave just two regular defenders on the pitch resulted in an equaliser when Danny S h i t t u 's thigh deflected in Robert Koren's wayward drive.[LNB]Skipper Jonathan Greening said: 'We all know what Robbo's like. He wears his heart on his sleeve. We have been in two relegation scraps here. We've won one and lost one. Both myself and Robbo know which one feels better. Some of the boys haven't tasted that disappointment.'.[LNB] [LNB]
