Trotters prepare £2m raid for Robbo

Megson is a long-time admirer of the tenacious defender having managed him during his spell in the Hawthorns hot-seat. And the 30-year-old has expressed his wish to leave the Baggies this summer following their relegation from the Premier League. Flame-haired gaffer Megson is keen to bolster Bolton's backline and believes £2million is a fair price for Robinson, who was a near ever-present under Tony Mowbray last season. Albion would be likely to accept such a bid as they have Marek Cech to fill the left-back position, and Mowbray is not a fan of keeping unhappy players on the club's wage bill. Chairman Jeremy Peace, currently in a compensation stand-off with Celtic who want Mowbray as Gordon Strachan's successor at Parkhead, has told his manager to trim the playing staff ahead of the Championship campaign. And if Megson is successful in capturing Robinson's signature, he could also renew his interest in winger James Morrison, who was linked with a move to The Reebok in January and is also keen to stay in England's top tier.
