Trotters claim friendly win in US
Kevin Davies and Tamir Cohen were on target as Bolton beat Charleston Battery 2-0 in the latest match on their summer tour.[LNB] Davies converted a cross from new signing Martin Petrov to put Bolton ahead after half-an-hour, and substitute Cohen doubled the lead after six minutes of the second half.[LNB]Bolton welcomed back two players after long injury lay-offs, with Sean Davis playing for the first time in 11 months and Joey O'Brien returning after being sidelined since late 2008.[LNB]They had been out of action with serious knee problems but managed to last for a half each.[LNB]"There is no doubt we stepped it up tonight," said Owen Coyle.[LNB]"Whilst we accept that we are not at the level we want to be at on 14th August, we are taking steps and tonight was better.[LNB]"First and foremost, with due respect to Charlotte, we played against better opposition - a team that is at the top of the league. It was their cup final and they were up for the game.[LNB]"In the second half we should have scored three or four goals and it is pleasing that we are creating those chances.[LNB]"In matches like this you look at the big plus points and one of those was that Joey O'Brien and Sean Davis got 45 minutes after what they have been through. I thought both were great and I told them not to get frustrated if they made any mistakes because they had been out for so long.[LNB]"The skipper (Davies) scored a great goal from another Martin Petrov cross and Tamir Cohen finished off a free-flowing move.[LNB]"Gary Cahill played a half with no reaction from the other night, plus the team got another shut-out as well.[LNB]"We must not forget that we trained in the heat this morning and came out and delivered a performance, so there was a lot to be pleased about."[LNB]While pleased with how things are progressing overall, Coyle was given cause for concern when Robbie Blake limped off late on.[LNB]"The only slight downside was that Robbie Blake tweaked his hamstring and had to come off, but again that was precautionary because we didn't want to aggravate it," he added.
