Steinsson 'opted to relax' for Bale duel

olton Wanderers defender Gretar Steinsson has revealed he just relaxed and rested ahead of going head-to-head with Tottenham's Gareth Bale.[LNB] The Wales international has become one of the most talked about players in European football following his two blistering displays against Inter Milan in the Champions League.[LNB]Maicon, one of the world's best full-backs, failed to keep Bale in check in their meetings and Steinsson knew he would be given a torrid test at the weekend.[LNB]However, Steinsson opted against worrying about the task ahead, preferring to eat well and put his feet up before the clash against Spurs at The Reebok.[LNB]The Icelandic defender's approach paid dividends as Bolton upset Harry Redknapp's men while Bale failed to influence the match as he had done against Inter.[LNB]"I have never received so many texts before a game, telling me to rest up," Steinsson said.[LNB]"I have played against Gareth before and he is a fantastic player and he has got a bright future in front of him. [LNB]"But I tried not to analyse it too much because, if you do that, then it just gets in your head.[LNB]"I just had a really good chicken korma and relaxed on the eve of the game. That helped me.[LNB]"So it is best to just rest, eat well and get a good night's sleep - then wake up and you're ready to go."
