Steinsson hopes to see new faces

The Whites are operating with the smallest playing staff in the Premier League this season and that has undoubtedly hindered their progress. Even with limited numbers Bolton managed to stay clear of the threat of relegation - unlike 12 months ago - and Steinsson believes that represents a success. But if they are to progress next season Gary Megson needs to bring in some quality reinforcements. It is something Iceland full-back Steinsson does not fear. "Just bring it on. We need to strengthen our squad, that is for sure," he said. "We have a really good squad, we have some young players and we get along really well and the atmosphere in the dressing room is fantastic. "I don't want that broken up but we need players because we have a small squad and have almost been using the same 11 all season. "We need players in and we don't want any players out - simple. "We can't be going another season with almost the same team every weekend so we need to strengthen if we are to push on and do good things in the Premier League. "The manager knows it and wants it and it will be interesting to see what happens. "Now we just have to see where we finish and how much money we have to spend in the summer." There is a danger that other clubs will come looking to lure some of Bolton's stars away but Steinsson is hopeful that will not happen. With captain Kevin Davies seemingly settled at the Reebok centre-back Gary Cahill, probably Bolton's player of the season, is the one attracting most of the attention. Megson bought him from Aston Villa in January 2008 for £5million and that is now looking like a bargain. Steinsson is confident Bolton will be able to hold on to their prize assets to allow the manager to build on this year's performance. "We have a young squad and the manager took a chance on a couple of signings - if you look at Gary Cahill, Matt Taylor, myself and even Mark Davies, who is one for the future - and he succeeded with that," added the 27-year-old. "We are younger and have a hunger to get results and do well for Bolton. "We have got a good chemistry in the club and with a couple of good signings we can push further." The former AZ Alkmaar defender said the whole squad had learned lessons from last season's brush with relegation and it had helped them perform better this time around. "It was stressful but I think we gained a lot of experience and it is something we can use in the future," he added. "We have used it this season, we have played better than last year and have a better team than last year and we should be glad we don't have to do it again." Man. City 8/11, Draw 5/2, Bolton 4/1
