Spurs goals anger Megson

Bolton manager Gary Megson was left angry and confused after his side could only manage a draw after a fine performance against Tottenham. The Trotters took the lead twice but Spurs pegged them back each time, their second leveller coming when an unmarked Vedran Corluka headed in from a corner. After the match, Megson admitted that he had mixed feelings about the performance and said that his defence simply should not have conceded the goals they did. "Why we did we do the things we did? I'm a bit perplexed like most people would be," the former West Brom manager told Sky Sports. "(As) I've just said to the players there, I've never been as pleased with a team in terms of a 90 minute performance and yet I've never been as angry with a team for coming off not having won playing that well. Soft Goals"The first goal was bad enough to concede, all it is is a hoof up to Crouch and he heads it down - he's done really well - and Kranjcar's finished it but you shouldn't concede, at this level, that kind. "And the one from a corner just shouldn't happen, full stop. "And the goals that we scored, I thought were decent goals. I know the first one comes from a set-piece but we're good at set-pieces. "The second goal is probably a goal that you would expect Tottenham to be renowned for, we're not supposed to be able to do that type of thing but we do. "I thought our work-rate, the organisation of them, the passing, the penetration from set-pieces and free-kicks, the closing down, there was nothing more that we could have asked for except for more concentration in the air from a set-piece that cost us the extra two points." Home FormThe draw means Bolton's wait for a first home win of the season continues, but Megson is sure that the poor run will not go on for much longer if Saturday's performance can be repeated. He added: "There is that danger but it won't happen because we won't allow it to happen. "That's probably the biggest dressing down that the players have had since I've been here because I'm so angry. "We've played worse than that time and time again, there's been times where we've not finished well but we accept that. "But the goal that Tottenham equalised with just shouldn't happen and it's not as if it's a one-off, it's something that we've got to eradicate from our game because it's just a freebie."
