Shittu snubs Blades move

// A bit of a hack but it works// The article snippet is wrapped onto a second line, even when #article-sub is emptyif( $("div#article-sub").children().length == 0 ) {$("div#article-sub").remove();} Bolton boss Gary Megson has confirmed Danny Shittu has rejected a loan move to Sheffield United.[LNB] The Nigeria international is yet to make a first-team appearance this season and Bolton are willing to loan him out.[LNB]The Blades made enquiries for Shittu, but the former Watford man has rejected their overtures.[LNB]"I spoke to Sam Ellis [United assistant manager] a few times and it was put to Danny he could go there if he wanted for a month's football and could have played six games," Megson told Sky Sports News.[LNB]"I felt it would have been good for everybody, but Danny didn't want to which is his prerogative so he has not gone."[LNB]Fitness boostMeanwhile, Megson is set to be boosted by the return of Ricardo Gardner for this weekend's clash with Stoke.[LNB]Gardner has not featured this season after picking up a hamstring problem in pre-season, but he is now back to full fitness and could return for the clash at the Reebok Stadium.[LNB]"He was a big plus for us last season," said Megson. "We moved him into central midfield and he did very well for us and got a few goals[LNB]"He is the quickest player we have got and he carries the ball as well as anybody at this football club and when we lost him against Portsmouth [last season] it was a blow to us.[LNB]"He was going to be in the side at the beginning of the season, but he pulled his hamstring on the Thursday before the season started, which was a real disappointment for us, but we are really pleased to have him back."[LNB]
