Robinson: Bolton move is permanent
The Trotters announced the arrival of the full-back on a 12-month loan deal, with a view to a permanent move, on Monday but Robinson says there is no chance of him returning to The Hawthorns.
The 30-year-old claims the stance between the two clubs is simply an effort to aid the Baggies financially.
"I have signed a three-year contract, simple as that," he told the Bolton News. "The 12-month loan deal was simply helping West Brom out for tax reasons.
"It was a bit difficult for my family to read that I was only on loan, so I wanted to clear up any doubt - I consider myself a Bolton Wanderers player on a three-year deal."
Robinson's transfer saga has dragged on for several weeks, with Wanderers boss Gary Megson and the Baggies unable to agree a fee, before an accord was eventually struck.
"It has been going on for a while now but now I'm here, I've got my head down to get stuck in with the hard work we're doing over here in Austria," he said.
"The gaffer being here was a massive part of me joining the club but so was the quality of the squad I'll be joining. I wanted to play my football in a winning team."
Robinson is happy to be joining a club who he sees as an established part of the Premier League and has no concerns about leaving behind the Baggies' fluent football for Megson's more direct approach.
"It was a difficult decision to leave West Brom because the club had been such a big part of my life," he admitted. "But the Premier League is where I want to be playing until my legs pack up and tell me to call it a day.
"Last year I was supported by quality players and some of the football West Brom played at times was magnificent. But sometimes it is about getting results and I feel I have joined a club that can dig them out, and that means they won't struggle.
"I was involved with some great people at West Brom but some were happy with going up and down between the Premier League and the Championship, and I was not."
Robinson added on the official website: "I'm glad everything is sorted out and I can enjoy the new challenge that lies in front of me.
"Obviously working with Gary before was a big plus and it wasn't a difficult decision to make. I know what he is like and how he can get the best out of me again as a player so I had no hesitations in joining Bolton.
"It is always nice when other football clubs show an interest in you and knowing the demands that Gary wants from his players, I believe he will be able to drive me on."
