The Dutchman has been troubled by an ankle injury and has made just three substitute appearances since the turn of the year, with manager Gary Megson not even selecting him for his last three matchday squads.

However, Riga is confident he can be a success for Wanderers.

"I've fully recovered from injury but I haven't been on the pitch much and it's been tough for me," he told the Bolton News. "It's very frustrating because I want to play and I want to help the team but I'm not a quitter.

"I will carry on working hard and, as long as the fans stick by me, I will be trying my best to get into the team. It's more frustrating because I know I can help but I can't show it. The style of the Premier League would suit me.

"When I came here I thought we were going to play for the top six or seven and that was why I chose Bolton but I haven't had much opportunity to show my qualities here. I'm trying to stay cool and not lose my head. I just want to finish the season and see what happens."
