Transfer tussle: Ipswich defender McAuley[LNB]Bolton boss Owen Coyle is ready to rival Scottish champions Rangers for the signature of Ipswich and Northern Ireland defender Gareth McAuley. [LNB]Coyle is considering a move for £2million-rated McAuley if, as seems likely, he loses Gary Cahill to one of the Premier League big guns this summer. [LNB]Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is a known admirer of Cahill while the player has previously been linked with a move to Liverpool.[LNB]McAuley, 30, was the Ipswich fans' choice as player of the year after looking set to depart Portman Road earlier in the season when boss Roy Keane stripped him of the captaincy and told his agent to find him a new club. [LNB]But McAuley, signed by former boss Jim Magilton for £1.1m from Leicester two years ago, knuckled down and only skipper Jon Walters clocked up more appearances for the Tractor Boys. [LNB]McAuley, who has won 20 caps, is in the Northern Ireland squad for friendly internationals against Turkey and Chile later this month.
