Poor Portsmouth. The troubled club played with spirit but lost to an anxious Bolton side who, according to their manager Gary Megson, gave the worst performance of a miserable season so far. Gary Cahill's 89th-minute winner not only brought Bolton their first points but condemned Portsmouth to the worst start in their history and kept them at the foot of the Premier League.
