Owen Coyle delays decision on Burnley exit as Bolton prepare to name Gary Megson's successor

Bolton should have a clearer idea by Tuesday evening as to whether their preferred managerial choice Owen Coyle will be making the short trip to the Reebok Stadium from Burnley.   [LNB]The Clarets boss met his chairman Barry Kilby last night to explain his plans after being given permission to talk to their Barclays Premier League rivals.   [LNB]However, according to a Burnley statement, both parties opted to take 24 hours to think things over.   [LNB] Making your mind up: Bolton await Burnley boss Owen Coyle's decision [LNB]The statement read: 'Senior Burnley officials have, on Mondayevening, held detailed talks with first-team manager Owen Coyle overhis future at Turf Moor.   [LNB]'As a result of these talks over Coyle's future with his currentemployers, both parties have decided to take a further 24 hours todigest the information shared before making any further announcement.  [LNB]Kissing goodbye? [LNB]It is understood a clause was inserted into his contract when hesigned a 12-month extension to his existing three-year deal in thesummer.   [LNB]Reports yesterday suggested a financial agreement had already been reached between the clubs but they remain unconfirmed.   [LNB]Bolton chairman Phil Gartside shortlisted Coyle for the manager'sjob before he appointed Megson in October 2007 and subsequentlyrecommended him to Burnley, where the Scot took over the followingmonth.   [LNB]When Megson was sacked last week Coyle was installed as Gartside'stop target and it appears the ambitious 43-year-old would welcome amove.   [LNB]Having steered Burnley to promotion to the top flight for the firsttime in 33 years Coyle has had to work on a shoestring budget.   [LNB] The Departed: Gary Megson was sacked after Bolton's 2-2 draw with Hull [LNB][LNB]He recently remarked after the Boxing Day fixture with Bolton they had three times Burnley's budget.   [LNB]Bolton are hoping to have Coyle in place so he can take the team on Saturday when they face Sunderland.   [LNB]Before then they face a trip to Arsenal tomorrow and it looks likelycaretaker manager Chris Evans, assisted by head coach Steve Wigley,will again be in charge.  [LNB] A pre-match press conference hosted by Evans is due to go ahead as scheduled this morning.
