Modeste M'Bami fails to win a move to Wigan after two-week trial with Latics

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has confirmed on-trial midfielder Modeste Mbami will not be joining the club after the two parties failed to agree an acceptable deal.  The 26-year-old Cameroon international, who is a free agent after the expiry of his contract with Marseille, spent the last fortnight with the Latics hoping to impress. However, Wigan were only prepared to offer a short-term contract and Mbami was looking for a longer deal.  It is believed Spanish Primera Division side Almeria are now lining up a move for the former Paris St Germain player, who also had trials with Portsmouth, Bolton and Wolves earlier this year.
