Megson wary of being caught

Gary Megson is not taking Bolton Wanderers' Premier League safety for granted with five games of the season remaining. Bolton slipped to a 1-0 defeat by Portsmouth on Saturday and lie 13th in the table, six points outside of the relegation zone. With more than a handful of teams still heavily involved in the battle for survival, Megson is not yet making plans for next season. The Trotters boss is aware that his own club's successful climb to safety last term means he can ill-afford his players to relax. "Last year people said we were gone after a 4-0 defeat (at Aston Villa) left us in the bottom three with five games to go, but we won three and drew two to get out of trouble and there is always the fear somebody else is capable of doing that," said Megson. "We've just got to make sure we are not the ones who get caught, but we've got to do a lot better than against Portsmouth to be sure of that. "We just didn't play how Bolton play and I can't think of many of my players who performed anywhere near the way they should."
