Megson slams "sloppy" defence

Bolton boss has branded his side's play as "sloppy" following their 2-0 away defeat at the hands of Stoke City. The Trotters we're undone by a goal in either half which gave the Stoke all three points and puts them just one short of the Bolton themselves. "We're disappointed, we disappointed ourselves" Megson told sky sports. "I thought the first 10 minutes we were on top and then we give away a remarkably sloppy goal, it was an awful goal to give away which obviously galvanised Stoke. "At times we didn't show enough quality when we had the amount of ball and we didn't compete well enough when Stoke played the way that they play" "When the game's like that we need to show more quality. We had quite a lot more ball than ordinarily we do have, but we also need to compete a little bit better." After some recent good form which seemingly made Bolton safe from the drop, defeat brings them right back in the mix and Megson is weary of their away form. "Today is a poor result for us and in terms of performance it's not good enough and not been to the standard that we've shown in the last few (games). "We're slipping into out old ways away from home and it's something we need to sort out as quickly as we can," added Megson. The Bolton boss was also keen to highlight the role of the home crowd in Bolton's defeat, believing that they can have a big influence on a game. "They're a formidable opponent (Stoke) and their support is incredible and it gets them decisions. It gets the players working harder and it's a huge, huge thing for them," he added.
