Megson shrugs off boo boys

Bolton boss Gary Megson has vowed to get on with his job despite boos from the home crowd as they drew 1-1 with Stoke at the Reebok. The Trotters needed a penalty from Matt Taylor a minute from time to cancel out Dave Kitson's opener as Tamir Cohen was brought down by Stoke's Danny Collins. Bolton move out of the relegation zone after picking up another point following last week's opening win at Portsmouth, yet groans and boos echoed throughout the Reebok Stadium. However, while Megson is yet to win over sections of the Bolton crowd who seemed eager to let their opinions be known, he insists it's something he is used to and will not let affect him or his players. "It is difficult but they're used to that. It's been like that for a long time and we just have to get on with it - it's not new to be fair," he told Sky Sports. Bolton fell a goal behind early in the second half but following a sluggish start after the break, the home side recovered to dictate the play with substitutes Ricardo Gardner and Ivan Klasnic instrumental. "We've changed because we are the home team and we tried to cause one or two more problems than we were actually were doing in the first forty-five. "So we changed it at halt-time with two people going off and obviously two coming on. "The goal that we gave away was a shocking goal for us to give away. It would be a shocking goal at any level of football let alone professional football. "But that seemed to give us a little more of a boost to us than it actually did to Stoke and we took the game to them a lot more than we had done in the previous 65 or 70 minutes. "It culminated in a penalty that was the right decision, a correct decision which you couldn't really get wrong." FrustratedMegson was frustrated at his side's inability to convert chances after a handful of goalmouth scraps went begging, but he insists a draw was a fair reflection on the play. "Zat Knight had an opportunity from six yards which he should bury and one or two other skirmishes in and around their goal that I was disappointed we didn't score from," he said. "But I think overall we haven't played particularly well and I don't think Stoke have so I think a draw is a fair result. Megson was also keen to praise the impact made by Gardner, who was making his first appearance of the season from the bench after recovering from a hamstring injury. Megson said of Gardner: "He gives us that capability to get onto the ball and take it up the pitch without having to move it on to anyone else and we really miss him when he's not available."
