Megson: Scolari sacking 'ridiculous'

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has questioned the wisdom of getting rid of the World Cup-winning Brazilian with the Stamford Bridge club fourth in the Premier League and still involved in the Champions League and FA Cup.[LNB]"I was shocked that Chelsea should part so soon with a manager of such great experience and proven success as Scolari," said Ferguson.[LNB]"Their haste is a reflection of the sad way the game is going, with everyone from owners, the board members, the supporters and the media demanding instant success and showing absolutely no patience in the pursuit of their ambition."[LNB]Megson backed Ferguson's comments and believes Scolari should have been given more time.[LNB]"It is a bit of a nonsense. What he has done wrong I don't know," said the Bolton boss.[LNB]"You don't know what was going on behind the scenes but it was just one or two results and then they are getting rid of the guy.[LNB]"It is getting crazy the way managers are hired and fired. It needs a little bit of time to be judged.[LNB]"It didn't need changing at Chelsea, it was about being judged and they have got two or three results which didn't go their way and that is the outcome - ridiculous."[LNB]Megson also felt Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has to take some of the blame for the club having had four managers in the last 17 months.[LNB]"There is no set way of how to run a football club but it seems a little strange to see what they can do," he added.[LNB]"After kamikaze pilot I would guess football manager has about the same sort of job security - there is nothing you can do about it.[LNB]"It is really strange that these decisions are made and yet the people who make these decisions, after getting it wrong with one manager and then do it with another one and then another one.[LNB]"Surely the common denominator is the person making the decision isn't it?"[LNB]Closer to home Megson has been grateful for the two-week break - because of the club's non-involvement in the FA Cup - after the woeful 3-0 defeat at Everton as it has allowed a number of players to regain fitness.[LNB]Striker Johan Elmander, midfielders Gavin McCann and Tamir Cohen and defender Nicky Hunt have all recovered from injury leaving only Joey O'Brien, who had a minor knee operation in America this week, on the sidelines.[LNB]It means Megson has plenty of options ahead of Saturday's visit of West Ham.[LNB]"We are getting a little bit stronger in terms of bodies available," he said.[LNB]"After the Everton game we would have liked to have played the week after but, having said that, it did give us the opportunity to get some of the players back."[LNB][LNB] Bolton 11/8[LNB], West Ham 15/8[LNB], Draw 12/5[LNB]
