Megson: I won't chop and change

Fielding weakened sides has been the major talking point this week after Wolves boss Mick McCarthy, with one eye on Sunday's match against Burnley, changed all 10 outfield players ahead of the 3-0 defeat at Manchester United in midweek.[LNB]Bolton may be in the same situation as Wolves, with only goal difference separating them from the 18th-placed midlanders, but Megson said he cannot afford to ease off in any game.[LNB]Wanderers have a crucial run in the next fortnight as they travel to Wigan on Monday, which is then followed by a trip to Burnley on Boxing Day and then a match at home to Hull on December 29.[LNB]And with one of the two smallest squads in the Premier League the Bolton boss has no room for manouvre even if he wanted to rest players - which he does not.[LNB]"(Hull manager) Phil Brown was on the television the other day and he was talking about squad size, saying he had the third-smallest in the Premier League and below them are ourselves and Birmingham," said Megson.[LNB]"To be viewed as one of the smallest squads and yet have some of the players we have here - which we are really pleased we have got - shows the strength of the Premier League.[LNB]"We have always sent out the strongest team. There were times when I first arrived (in October 2007) when we were playing in Europe on Thursday and then fighting a relegation battle on the Sunday and that is different.[LNB]"In the league we send out our strongest team all the time. We even did that last year at Arsenal when we only had three subs.[LNB]"The strongest team will always be selected."[LNB]Megson hopes his squad will soon be bolstered by the return of midfielder Gavin McCann.[LNB]An ankle injury kept him out of the last two matches (a 3-3 draw with Manchester City and the 3-1 midweek win over West Ham) and he not is expected to recover in time for Monday's trip to near-neighbours Wigan.[LNB]However, Megson is hopeful the player could return for Burnley on Boxing Day.[LNB]"We are still having a slight problem with Gavin," said the Wanderers boss.[LNB]"It was not as bad as people reported it but it was just a little more serious than we thought it would be.[LNB]"I think he will struggle to be involved on Monday but it shouldn't be too long after that - hopefully not."[LNB][LNB]
