Megson eyes striker signing

Bolton manager Gary Megson will try to offload a couple of players as he searches for a striker to bolster his attacking options. With Kevin Davies rested for Tuesday's friendly at Hearts, Megson had only Johan Elmander to call on and is keen to find more support for his front two. "We are going to have to bring someone in. I know the player I'd like to [bring in] but whether we will be able to I'm not sure," said Megson. One likely departure is defender Danny Shittu, who has struggled to hold down a first team place since arriving from Watford last summer. The Nigeria international started just 10 matches last season and the signing of Zat Knight from Aston Villa further reduces his chances of becoming a regular under Megson. Shittu has been linked with a £2million move to Coca-Cola Championship side Nottingham Forest but Megson would not confirm any approach. "There is quite a bit of interest in Danny and we'll see if it materialises into anything more concrete," he told the Bolton News. "I'd not want to talk about individual clubs and certainly not Nottingham Forest who do their business correctly but there hasn't been any firm offers just yet."
