Megson - Expect honesty

Gary Megson believes Bolton players will give more in terms of hard work and honesty than any other team during the coming season. The Bolton boss has been busy in the transfer market this summer, recruiting Zat Knight, Sam Ricketts, Sean Davis, Paul Robinson and Lee Chung-Yong to the Reebok. He is delighted with his new signings and he has told fans to expect a team that gives maximum effort when they take to the pitch for the opening Premier League game against Sunderland on Saturday. The Trotters boss said: "I can honestly say, hand on heart, that nobody will be as good as my players this season in terms of effort and honesty. "That's the kind of players they are and we're determined to keep on making progress. "There is real competition for places now with the players we've brought in. "I've been delighted with all of them. They're all really good lads and have fitted in exceptionally well. "There is extra quality as well as extra competition." New Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has also been busy in the transfer market, spending big to land the likes of Darren Bent, Fraizer Campbell, Lorik Cana, Paulo Da Silva and Lee Cattermole. While Megson believes Bruce is a canny operator in the transfer market, he also thinks spending big brings its own pressures. The Bolton boss added: "Don't forget that Steve also did a terrific job at Wigan last season when he didn't spend a lot of money. "He's now at a huge football club and has got the wherewithal to spend big money. "Cattermole is a really good deal at £6million and that's why Steve has gone there. "They are a big football club with big finances to spend, just like they did under Roy Keane, but with that comes pressure."
