Megson eager to secure survival

Gary Megson wants Bolton to start winning games sooner rather than later in a bid to secure their top-flight status for another season. Bolton are currently comfortably placed in 13th spot in the Premier League having garnered 38 points from their 34 leagues games so far this season. However, Megson's side have only won one of their last seven league outings, a 4-1 win over strugglers Middlesbrough, leading some to believe they could be dragged into the relegation scrap. The former West Brom boss is not unduly worried by the club's form after securing a point against Aston Villa last time out, but he wants them to return to winning ways sooner rather than later. "We are getting there, but we would prefer to be getting there in a different mode," said Megson. "We'd like to be winning games and pushing on up the table. "The point last week against Aston Villa was a good point given the circumstances of the two clubs. "Obviously with our result of getting a point at the weekend and the result of Newcastle and Portsmouth, each week that goes by if we can get a decent result then that's one less that we can be caught. "What we do know is that if we go to Wigan and get a really good result and win there then we've got a fantastic chance of getting where we want to be."
