olton Wanderers manager Gary Megson has leapt to the defence of new club captain Kevin Davies.[LNB] Davies, who replaced Kevin Nolan as the club's new skipper last week, has in the past been criticised for his perceived overzealous style of play.[LNB]Earlier this season Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson hit out at the combative striker for his robust challenge on Arsenal's Gael Clichy.[LNB]Clichy later admitted he feared he had broken his leg, but Megson feels Davies is as honest as they come and while some players play-act to get a fellow professional booked, the veteran striker is always quick onto his feet.[LNB]Three bookingsMegson has also pointed to the fact that Davies has only been booked three times this season, while one Premier League player recently received his tenth booking of the campaign.[LNB]"Some of the things that I hear about him, I find ridiculous," said Megson.[LNB]"He is the most fouled player in the Premier League, yet I bet there are not too many people who foul him that get booked.[LNB]"What we encourage here is that when players hit the ground, that they get straight up and don't show they are hurt.[LNB]No play-acting"We don't like all the rolling around and play-acting and the sooner that everybody shows the qualities that Kevin Davies has in that respect, the better.[LNB]"It's not his fault that he is strong, honest and committed. People have got to start getting away from the perception of Kevin Davies and look at the reality.[LNB]"He gets kicked from pillar to post, yet he has only been booked three times this season.[LNB]"People need to start waking up to that and in terms of a captain he is everything you could wish for."[LNB]
