Megson content despite window woe

Megson tried to recruit Portsmouth's Sean Davis and Miguel Veloso from Portuguese club Sporting to plug the gap left by Nolan's move to Newcastle.[LNB]He was rebuffed on both fronts but did bring in Sebastien Puygrenier, Ariza Makukula and Mark Davies and believes his squad is getting steadily stronger. [LNB]Megson said: "It was a disappointment in two cases. We did try to sign the players at the end of the window, but everything needs to be right, and it wasn't. [LNB]"We couldn't swing it this time - but we'll revisit them in the summer, I'm sure.[LNB]"We didn't sign a replacement for Kevin but we have got the knowledge that several players will be back soon. We'll have to go with what we've got."[LNB]Megson told the Bolton News: "No players turned us down, it was the clubs who were not willing to let them go. We had to accept that, we weren't happy about it, but there is nothing we could do.[LNB]"In terms of a Premier League squad, the numbers are low. But the quality isn't, and you saw that last week against Tottenham. [LNB]"We're still trying to do what we set out to when we first came in, and that is raise the quality slowly but surely."[LNB][LNB]
