Megson campaigns for Taylor

olton boss Gary Megson believes Matthew Taylor could be the answer to England's left-sided problems.[LNB] The Three Lions have tried numerous options on the troublesome flank over the years, but have yet to find the right man for the role.[LNB]Chelsea's Joe Cole has done a commendable job when fully fit, but he is by no means an out-and-out winger - and he is right-footed.[LNB]Middlesbrough's Stewart Downing is yet to transfer his club form onto the international stage, while Ashley Young is yet to be given a run in the side by Fabio Capello.[LNB]England will hope to have stumbled across an answer by the time the 2010 World Cup finals get under way, and Megson believes Capello could do worse than take a trip to the Reebok Stadium to run the rule over Taylor.[LNB]"I find it strange that we are supposedly crying out for a left-sided player who can work hard and score goals," said the Trotters chief.[LNB]"Yet we have one - and he is English. He works his socks off and is a quality player.[LNB]"If he got his opportunity he would not let anyone down."[LNB]HonoursTaylor is refusing to get his hopes up just yet but, with Bolton team-mates Kevin Davies and Gary Cahill having been included in the 32-man provisional squad for the recent friendly against Spain, the former Portsmouth man is delighted to see the Trotters getting the recognition they deserve.[LNB]"Davo and Gary got called up into a provisional England squad and that was great. It shows playing for Bolton can bring other honours with it," he said.[LNB]"For all the English lads here, if we play well and can get ourselves in a decent position in the league then we're putting ourselves out there for anything else that comes along.[LNB]"But if you score goals in matches, people take notice of you and that's what Davo's doing.[LNB]"He's now getting the recognition he deserves and I'm really chuffed for him."[LNB]
