Magpies boss admits Samuel enquiry

ewcastle manager Chris Hughton has confirmed he did contact Bolton to discuss Jlloyd Samuel, but says there has been no bid as yet.[LNB] It was reported on Wednesday that Bolton had rejected an offer of £1million from the Magpies for the experienced defender.[LNB]Hughton has now moved to clarify the situation, saying that he has not made a formal proposal to the Trotters.[LNB]The Newcastle boss is currently assessing the availability of possible transfer targets and admits there were a number of other Bolton players on the agenda when he spoke to Owen Coyle's club.[LNB]"I can't say there hasn't been a phone call to see what the situation is (with Samuel)," Hughton told the Evening Chronicle. [LNB]"But it has not gone as far as a bid, definitely not.[LNB]"He would have been probably one of a few players we've enquired about from that club even. [LNB]"At the moment we are in the process of finding out the availability of certain players and he was one of them.[LNB]"But I can say that it is nothing more than that at this stage."
