Hughton hails dynamic duo

Toon boss Chris Hughton admitted his shellshocked side had been run ragged by Wanderers' strike force. Kevin Davies and Johan Elmander struck braces as Bolton romped to a 5-1 victory at the Reebok. The prolific duo have now bagged 14 goals between them this season and they were too hot for Newcastle to handle. And Hughton felt the runaround the pair gave his defenders contributed to Fabricio Coloccini’s sending off after the Argentine deliberately elbowed Elmander. He said: “Coloccini is not a malicious player. It was a frustrating afternoon for him and Elmander was going to do him for pace. It was a red card. “It was a frustrating afternoon for my players. Bolton play a pressing style, though I’m not taking anything away from them, they’re a very good team. “We were up against a Bolton team who were in very good form at the moment. The front two players were a real handful.” Hughton, who described it as his worst day as manager of Newcastle, added: “It was a bad day at the office but I don’t think 5-1 was a true reflection. We contributed to our own downfall and conceded some very poor goals. If you give the type of goals we gave away then it will be difficult to win any game.”
