Goal drought concerns Megson

Bolton boss Gary Megson has expressed his concerns over his side's lack of firepower after their 1-0 defeat to Hull City. The Trotters dictated play until the hour mark before the introduction of Jozy Altidore sparked Hull into life as he teed up Kamel Ghilas to fire home on 61 minutes on his full debut. The result is Bolton's second 1-0 defeat following their opening day loss to Sunderland and, after a series of chances went begging, Megson is concerned about their lack of instinct in front of goal. "The way the game was panned out it should have been all over by half-time," Megson told Sky Sports. "When you're stood there watching what is going on you're always sceptical to what actually did happen. "Gary Cahill has made one mistake in the game I think - he's got under that long ball to the edge of the box and then we didn't have any cover from there, Zat (Knight) couldn't get onto it and we're 1-0 down. "After that they had one or two chances as it opened up a bit with ourselves trying to get back in to get an equaliser." First-half chances spurned by Kevin Davies and Johan Elmander proved costly for the Trotters as they still await their first goal of this campaign. "We've come to the KC today and had 18 shots, nine of which were on target and we've not scored. I thought we should have been out of sight after half an hour," Megson added. "The first chance we've had was after two minutes and you could just feel the way the game was going with the crowd and everybody else, they were expecting us to score the first goal - but we didn't." With limited options up front and Elmander still not looking up to standard in the Premier League, Megson admits that goals are his main priority at the minute. "It's a huge concern because it's what the game is about," he added. "This club had one of the best strikers in Europe a couple of years ago and if you take Nicolas Anelka's goals away from the season when Bolton got into Europe, they'd have finished 13th. "So it just shows you the difference. It's something we need to rectify, whether that means bringing someone in remains to be seen."
