Gardner blow for Whites

Bolton could be without Jamaica international Ricardo Gardner for up to a month. The defender was a late withdrawal from the squad that lost at home to Sunderland on Saturday with a hamstring injury, and boss Gary Megson has confirmed that Gardner could miss the first four games of the season. That is an added blow for Megson, who is already looking for striking re-enforcement. Megson has little serious back-up for Kevin Davies and Johan Elmander, and used 18-year-old Darren Ward and South Korean Chung Yong Lee on Saturday, the later having only arrived in the country two days earlier. Megson said: "We have a stronger squad than last season in terms of numbers and quality but there are a lot stronger squads out there. "We will have a look around and see what (strikers) there are around and see if we can do better."
