A hat-trick from Tom Eaves inspired Oldham to a 3-0 friendly win over Bolton, ending the Barclays Premier League side's unbeaten pre-season record.

Wanderers boss Owen Coyle sent out a virtual full-strength side for the pre-season friendly clash at Boundary Park but saw his side undone by the first-half substitute.

Eaves, who replaced Warren Feeney when the Northern Ireland international picked up an injury, gave the npower League 1 side a 24th-minute lead, doubled the lead four minutes before the break and completed his hat-trick in the 55th minute.

Elsewhere, West Ham completed their fourth successive pre-season win as Julien Faubert and Carlton Cole netted against Oldham's third tier counterparts MK Dons.

Matthew Upson and Jonathan Spector both made their first appearances since their return from the World Cup, while England goalkeeper Robert Green also played 45 minutes.

Cole was the key man for the Hammers, providing Faubert with the assist for the opening goal and then sealing the win with a fine solo effort in the 85th minute.
