Davies laments defending
Kevin Davies has labelled some of his side's defending in the 3-1 home defeat to Fulham as 'Sunday League'.
The Trotters had won their previous three games at The Reebok and fancied their chances against a side that was yet to win away in the Premier League.
Instead Fulham secured a much needed win after two successive defeats thanks to goals from Andrew Johnson, Simon Davies and Diomansy Kamara.
Bolton's Davies managed to cancel out Johnson's opener just before half-time to claim his tenth of the season, his highest goal return for five seasons, but more sloppy defending had the 31-year-old asking questions.
"The first goal was disappointing enough. But we came in at 1-1 and said we needed to push on for the second," he told The Bolton News.
"Then to concede another Sunday school type of goal was even worse. We chased the game and lost another. So three mistakes have cost us three goals in the end."
The result has Wanderers cautiously looking over their shoulder at the drop zone with only four points separating the club and the bottom three.
But after insisting the side should focus on a top ten finish just a few weeks ago, the former Blackburn front man knows that performances such as Saturday's will not help their cause.
"We'd targeted the home games because we have got a good run-in against teams around us that we feel we can beat," he added.
"We felt it was a massive game for us. Fulham have got some tough games coming up too, so it was a big one for them.
"In the end it was all too easy for them. They could get their passing game together and get it into their front men. Fulham played midweek and at times it looked like we had."
